How to have free own blog and domain name

Dear readers, Do you ever dream of having your own blog? or you want to create another web blog, but you do not want to spend a single money on it? Blogspot may be the solution for you. But, having a Blogspot blog won’t give you the freedom to blog more and more. You will have limited capabilities to customize the blog, such templates, plug-ins, and you even will only be given a simple sub-domain, ends with “.blogspot.com”. I WISH you own your own paid hosting blog, BUT, if you really want to have all of the in free, then I have no choice instead to teach you how to have your own blog and domain for free. Sorry but I’ll get this short and understandable. Hassle free to comment my blog post here.

Well, the trick starts here.

Let’s see, there are few free domain name services on the internet, but the best I found so far was “.co.cc” domain. You have the full freedom to control DNS and domain management. And it’s easy to configure too. So, what you have to do is find your own domain name. Let say, you choose “http://www.yourname.co.cc” as your domain name. So what do you need to do?

  • Surf your web browser to “yourdomain.co.cc” (change ‘yourdomain’ with your own selected domain name)
  • Okay, let say your selected domain is available and free. If it’s not available, or worth dollars, you need to find another free one.
  • Click “Sign Up” and register the domain name.
  • Okay, finish with the “.co.cc” thingy for the moment. Remeber your login detail as you will need to login again after this to fill in the domain nameserver (dns), in order to activate your domain. I prefer you not to close your web brower and follow the next method.

Ever heard of 000WebHost before? It’s a free hosting service with the capability like the real paid web hosting. It’s a 250MB web space with 100GB bandwidths. The hosting account is powered by CPanel and Fantastico. All you need to do next are:

  • Open new web browser and go to the 000Webhost site.
  • Register your account at 000WebHost. (http://www.000webhost.com/order.php)
  • Insert your selected “co.cc” domain name. (previously I assume you choose to have ‘yourdomain.co.cc’ as your domain name)
  • Upon finishing sign up, you’ll be given a login (username and password) to your CPanel account, together with nameserver of the web hosting (something like ns1.000webhost.com and ns2.000webhost.com. There will be usually 2 of them.)

Okay, get back to your previous browser window, your “.co.cc” account.

  • Set up your selected domain by pointing the domain to the given Name Server (DNS) at 000webhost. (Say, you’re given ns1.000WebHost.com and ns2.000WebHost.com, fill in both name server when configuring your selected “.co.cc” domain name. )
  • Finish with the domain and web hosting. Please wait for domain to completely propagate to the web server.

Wait till your domain successfully propagated. But, how do you know when will your domain activated? Easy, just browse to your selected domain name from your web browser. If appear no more notice from “.co.cc”, then you domain has been successfully activated. But wait, all the steps mentioned above were just to have your own domain and web hosting/site, you did not even have a blog yet. How?

  • Login to your CPanel account (http://www.yourdomain.co.cc/cpanel , replace ‘yourdomain’ with yours)
  • Navigate to the “Fantastico” menu.
  • Click to “Wordpress” > “New Installation” and follow the installation step order.
  • Upon installing, you will be given a Wordpress control panel account and you can access your account at http://www.yourdomain.co.cc/wp-admin (if you choose to install Wordpress at your root directory)

There you go! You now have your own web blog and you can start posting now! I’ve also converted this post to .pdf ebook files and you can download at the link below:
